Slovenia has a good bus and coach network comprising dozens of independent bus companies. The bus offers frequent departures to destinations throughout the country and is often the only way to travel to the centre of many popular destinations including Lake Bohinj and Bled – the two train stations in Bled are both a 5.5km walk from town.
International buses and coaches operate to destinations in Austria, Bosnia, Croatia, Germany, Hungary and Italy. Eurolines coaches go to Ljubljana, although the Eurolines Pass is not valid for travel in Slovenia.
All buses depart from a central bus station (avtobusna postaja). If you’re trying to decipher the signs at the station, a blagajna is a ticket window, odhodi means departure and prihodi means arrivals.
